Well, as of tomorrow, I’m

Well, as of tomorrow, I’m off to Pendleton for a few days. What’s in Pendleton, you ask? [insert sarcastic comment about small town here] Ha ha ha! Seriously, though, there’s a DEQ office. Appearently the LAN Admin at this office quit recently, and while they’ve been trying to replace him, a backlog of work has built up to the point where they asked my dad to go over for a few days and try to get things running again. As this will mostly consist of installing new workstations, they’ll need some tech-chimps who are capable of following directions, so I’m tagging along.

I’m getting nervous about the possible job with Steve’s boss. I haven’t heard anything from him in about a week, and I’m afraid I let my hopes get up. It really would be the perfect job, and I know I’ll be disappointed if I don’t get it. So, even though the idea of spending a few days in Pendleton doesn’t exactly thrill me, it will let me get out and do something other than wait for a phone call or email.

Hey! This is the home of the Pendleton ROUNDUP. What can a big city possibly offer that compares with a week long Rodeo? … <vbg>

Having been born and raised in Pendleton, I would love to be able to give you nifty tips on where to go and what to do while you’re there. But in all honesty, there is very little of note in Pendleton. :-p While I have a particularly fond memories of the rolling agricultural landscape that surrounds the town, i can see how most would find it dreadfully mundane. The only exciting thing that happens in Pendleton is the annual Round-up, and I’m afraid u just missed it. Probably just as well…its a very strange event. If u want a good laugh and taste of local culture, u could go down to the Rainbow cafe and tavern. ;-p Heh, well at least you’re getting out if town, which is alwasy good. :)

Or if you like big equipment, they have the biggest John Deere and PapeCat stores i have ever seen! You can’t miss them.–Alex

At the risk of sounding like an ass, why have you let a week go by without calling him?Maybe this guy is different, but most employers I’ve ever worked for like persistence, even to the point of annoyance.I know many people (and myself on several occasions) who got their jobs because they fought for them. And every time I think I have a job nailed and relax a little, they "hire someone else" while I wait to call back.Just your little brother’s two cents.
