Zoe is Two Years Old

Zoe's Laugh

Dear Zoe,
You are two years old, and it is absolutely crazy how much you have changed and grown lately. You’ve recently started going to Co-Op daycare, started jumping and doing somersaults, become fascinated with reading and writing, and singing and talking. You are always busy and high energy, and everyone thinks you’re adorable.

The Baby Party

I like to imagine a cocktail party where everyone would act like a baby. They’d be in their fancy strapless dresses and suits, making grand conversation about politics and the arts, but then the tray of little quiches would come around, and they’d go completely bug-eyed and flap their arms up and down and whimper. And then they’d eat a little quiche, grunting over it in a busy way, and then they’d smile a big drooling smile, with quiche crumbs tumbling happily out of their mouths. Maybe every now and then someone would turn bright red and burst into tears before passing explosive gas and falling asleep.

How I was Introduced to Red Dwarf

Last night, as Urn and Kat and Annie and I dined with Eric and Jill (our fabulous managers from the radio station), Jill mentioned that she wanted to throw a Red Dwarf themed Halloween party. When I mentioned that I had never seen the show, everyone got that horrified look and gasped (even Annie!) and Jill immediately sat me down on the couch to watch the out-takes tape, while Urn explained the basic “plot” of the show (I have a feeling that plot is too kind a word).

Needless to say, I’m hooked. I’m going to start borrowing the tapes from Urn and educate myself in the ways of Red Dwarf.
