Chinese River Pirate Dream

I found this on a backup disc while looking for something else. The text file, dated June 29, 2003, was titled chinese river pirate dream.txt. Based on the freeform style of the notes, I’m guessing that I woke up from the dream and walked over to the computer to write it down while it was still fresh in my mind, intending to flesh these notes out later on. I never did, and now it makes as little sense to me as it does to you.

Chinese river pirate
lets me join crew
on the deck
dock stuck under
push with stick
must do it by hand
running along bank
he won’t let me
dangerous
grab with hand
he jumps on board
floats downriver
hiding in tall grass
river patrol boats
they spot us
come over with threshers to cut grass
we have to run
I am going to get caught
running down middle of road through patrol
duck when they start shooting
bullets wizz overhead
kill each other
wait for man to pick me up and put me on body cart
never does
sneak away, meet up with crew
doesn’t come back
I remember he told me to tell his kids
standing outside his cabin
a station wagon pulls up
with three kids and a mom
the kids all have remote controls
driving little RC vehicles
advanced
remind me of the ship (looks like nautilus)
I mention this
kids says “we built it”
I tell mom I have to tell kids something
open front door
crouch down
“I’m sorry I have to tell you that your father
“Is alive and well!
boisterous
amazed he’s alive
tells me we’re in trouble
river patrols coming soon
must get biscuits
“What do you need biscuits for? We’ve got alcohol?
Why would pirates need more than booze?
Makes no sense to me he would risk it all again for these
“What good is alcohol without caffeine?
biscuits like hardtack but caffeinated
enter cabin (just me)
look around
find nothing
pry up floorboards
drop down
short area- three feet?
crouch walk
furnished well
this is hide-out
another room - nursery?
lower floor, can stand up
(familiar - beach cabin dream?)
now used as storage
not here
on way out I see table covered with luggage
open it up, filled with ziplock bags full of biscuits
my mom comes to help carry them
explains that she’s been living here
the room was much smaller before she knocked out the back wall to extend the room
which I thought would ruin the hideout because it would be obvious from the outside.
