This weekend, while I was busy playing video games with the boys, Annie drove down to Portland to get her tattoo. She’s been planning these fairy wings for years (as long as I’ve known her), and now they’re done! Full photoset coming later, but for now, here’s a teaser…
When they put a tattoo on, they put the design on tracing paper, and then transfer it to the skin, so these blue lines are just a guide for the artist to follow.
Update: Check out the followup post with photos of Annie’s completed tattoo.

How long did it take? How much did it cost?
Will she be adding color to them, or are they done as is?
Cool!

teaser Pat! teaser! This picture is before he even started with the gun…
Actual time spent working on it excluding a few breaks about 4.5-5 hrs. cost: about 500 bucks. It was really painful for the most part, but there was also the biggest endorphine rush I’ve ever felt in the middle of it ;)

Yeah, I swung by about an hour after she’d started, and they were maybe 1/5 of the way through . . . probably not even that. The corner of the wing that I saw looked fab, though.
Annie’s mood, however, did not. Sitting slumped in a chair for five hours while someone basically jabs you in the back with an electrified needle, is not fun. And she still had some time to go.
However, like most people I know who’ve gotten tattoos, she had nothing but positive things to say about it after.
