300: The Movie

The Hot Gates

Production on the movie adaptation of Frank Miller’s 300 is underway, and the website has up comparison shots between Miller’s artwork and the composite film footage. It looks like (visually, at least) they’re working just as hard as on Sin City to keep things accurate to the comic. I don’t recognize any of the names in the IMDB listing, but I’m sure Sean will know more than me.

If you haven’t read the comic, it’s based on the story of the 300 Spartans who single-handedly defended the mountain pass against the Persians in the Battle of Thermopylae, and it’s an incredibly epic story. I’m definitely looking forward to this one.

I was at comic-Con where they gave a sneak peak of the movie, and it was incredible! I rushed out and bought ‘Gates of Fire’, a historical fiction novel about the battle and am half way through it. Frank Miller was there in person talking about it and it seems like the ultimate guy movie of the year, hands down. This is a great still you have, but when you see the trailer, you won’t believe your eyes, its that beautiful. seriously.
