This weekend Zoe started walking! She’s taken a few steps before, but it was always like she didn’t really realize she was doing it – and we could never get a repeat performance. We were at her friend Maia’s first birthday party, and she stood up, raised her arms over her head and looked at me like, “Do you see what I’m doing? This is pretty cool, right?” Then I held out my arms and she took about five steps right to me. We didn’t have the camera out, but thankfully she did it again later that night.

Zoe is Talking
Her vocabulary is very limited, but she’s really interested. She listens carefully to new words and then tries to repeat them. Right now, she can (sort of) say Baby (bah-bah), Kitty (keh-t), Socks (sah-zz), Mama, Papa (bah-bah), Yes (yesh), and probably some others that I’m forgetting. In this video, I turned the viewfinder around so she could see herself while I was filming, so she’s pointing and saying “baby” over and over. I’m not sure if she knows it’s her – what age are they supposed to start recognizing themselves?
Zoe is Getting Ready to Walk
There’s this little activity table at Grandma Amy’s house, and Zoe loves to push it around like it’s a walker. It also plays music, and whenever she hears music, she stops, looks at us, and bobs her head up and down before resuming whatever she was doing.
Zoe Loves to Climb the Stairs
Up, and then back down! Left to her own devices, she would happily spend all day climbing up and down the carpeted stairs to the basement.
Zoe is Cruising
We had to set up this video a bit – We put her favorite object of day (a cardboard box from one of her creams) at the end of the couch. Watch how quickly she cruises over there!
