Which is worse?

“When I talked about the $87 billion, I made a mistake in how I talk about the war. But the president made a mistake in invading Iraq. Which is worse?”

    “Which is worse?”

You know you’re running for president when all you can say is “I might have failed, but you failed worse.” That’s what both candidates’ campaigns are based on. And it’s even worse that this is the best he’s got. Ha.

Yes, except we’re talking about orders of magnitude in difference between the two mistakes. Kerry’s was a mistake in grammar, with no ill effects to anyone (unless you want to count the fact that Bush’s campaign has used that mistake against him), while Bush’s mistake led to us committing ourselves to a war with few allies and no exit strategy. It’s ridiculous that the Bush campaign can even begin to compare the two.

The bumper sticker that’s floating around is a bit trite, but makes the same point: “No one died when Clinton lied.”
