My new camera arrived early this weekend, so I was able to goof around with it. You can see a few of the first photos that got taken below.
On Saturday, Dave and Rose drove down so that Rose could go shopping with Annie, and so that Dave could eat sushi with me. We went to Todai and stuffed ourselves, and it was great. Then we spent the rest of the day playing Dead or Alive with Miles and Sean.
On Sunday, Annie and I went grocery shopping, and ran into Xima at the store, who told us that her and Eric were thinking of going to see Delicatessen at the Laurelhurst. Turns out that movie is by the same guy who did City of Lost Children and Amelie, so we agreed to see it with them and Miles. It was great. The same odd sense of fantasy and strange imagery as the other two, but with this weird post-apocolyptic setting. It was very good.

Wow! Those pics look great! Very nice colors and bright and all, especially the one of Annie outside.
BTW, you’ll notice that even a new 4 megapixel digital camera can’t keep track of my ninja-like speeds on the Xbox controller. (My left thumb is blurry)

Yeah, at full-rez (which I didn’t post, since it’s a freakishly large 2272 x 1704 pixels) you can see that the whole photo is a little blurry. The default settings on the camera (as on most cameras) compensates for low-light situations by slowing the shutter speed. Slow shutter speed and hand-held cameras equals blur from your hands shaking a bit. The two solutions are to either use the flash (which I generally don’t like, since it washes out the whole photo and changes the colors) or to adjust some settings manually. Thankfully, my camera will let me do manual ajustments like simulating a higher film speed. But I don’t know how to do it yet. Once I know, I’ll be able to take nice sharp photos in situations like that photo of you and Miles in the living room, where there’s actually a good amount of light, and great colors, so I don’t want to use the flash.

1 — if you’re taking a picture of something that’s well-lit and don’t want to use the flash, turn the dial on the top to the icon of the guy running; that’s the fast-moving/speed setting, which has a faster shutter speed. less light, but in daylight it’s fine, and it’s fast enough to compensate for shaky hands.
2 — the reply box that rusted loads up in IE on dad’s computer is smaller than the text box i’m typing in, but it doesn’t allow you to adjust the window size, which means it constantly scrolls left and right as i type; a minor irritant, but if it can be changed that’d be awesome.
3 — post-apocAlyptic (i’m turning into ryan, aren’t i?)

Aw, don’t be so hard on yourself… You two are genetically identical, after all. ;)

You’ve never seen Delicatessen?
That movie’s awesome! I love the scene at the end with the overflowing bathtub.
