Presidential Editor Needed

[Regarding the bombings in Saudi Arabia,] President Bush vowed to hunt down the attackers: “These despicable acts were committed by killers whose only faith is hate, and the United States will find the killers, and they will learn the meaning of American justice.” *

Is anyone even bothering to proofread the president’s speeches anymore? We don’t need to find the killers, and teach them “American Justice” (Don’t get me started on that) …THEY WERE SUICIDE BOMBERS. Their bodies were lying in the street next to their blown-up cars. You don’t need to find them, you need to find the people who SENT them.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m appalled by the bombings, and I think we should try to find the people responsible for it. But come on! Will someone please at least glance at this man’s notes before he’s allowed to address the public?

Well, to his credit I can see where he’s coming from. I don’t agree with it, but I can see it. He’s saying that he wants to go after the people that sent the bombers, as if the bombers were weapons themselves. Whoever it was that shot the gun, or the missile, the same idea. The point with doing it that way is that you de-humanize the situation. Its not that there were people blowing themselves up but rather making them into weapons, and therefore, non-human. As soon as they make them human again there is sympathy for the bombers, their families, etc. So, they are making them something else, the Other, or demonizing them. It makes sense from Bush’s standpoint, but I don’t agree with it.

In other news, the compounds that were attacked were just like the ones that Rose and her family stayed in when her dad was working for Boeing over there. Kinda scary.

Oh, this isn’t any different than his other lie-filled, “exaggerated facts,” mispronounced speeches.
