I’ve been feeling kinda weird lately. I use what little productivity I have at work, and by the end of work, I just feel drained and don’t want to do anything but sit on the couch and watch TV. And I don’t even really want to do that, it’s just that requires no effort.
*blarg*
Time to get off my lame ass and accomplish some of the stuff on my to-do list that I’ve been meaning to do for a long time.
Footnote: Thanks for your helpful posts, everyone! I feel a lot better now. After I posted that, I spent the whole day cleaning. That might not sound like the biggest accomplishment, but it makes me feel much better about my surroundings, and it’s also something with definite results. I cleaned, now it is clean. Stuff on the computer tends to have more abstract results, and so sometimes it’s hard to feel like I’ve accomplished anything.

Reading a book requires no more effort than watching TV. If you’re prone to lounging, take the opportunity to read all the books you’ve never gotten around to.
Read the “Count of Monte Cristo” and find out that it’s better than the movie.
Read “The Scarlet Pimpernel” and discover the Napoleonic era prototype from which all James Bond type heroes are drawn.
Read “The White Company”. Arthur Conan Doyle thought this was his best work and was so disgusted with the public for ignoring it while clamoring over Sherlock Holmes, which he viewed as hack writing, that he killed off Holmes. Then, to his further disgust had to bring him back to life again in order to pay the bills … because the the public still didn’t like his historical fiction.
Read … well, surely you get the idea …

It’s because it’s winter. Get out and get more light.

exercise helps… like, every morning before you go to work, get up and walk briskly for 15 minutes. i know your knees prevent running, but a brisk morning walk not only gives you time to think and clear your head, it helps keep your blood flowing all day long.
absolutely, hands-down, this is the best side-effect of owning a dog. ;)

Good Point… I’m re-reading the Lord of the Rings and a book KT loaned me at the moment, but after that, I think I’ll start wading through the stack of Sci-Fi I have waiting for me. :)

But there’s less light outside than there is in my house! ;)
Good point, though… I pulled up the shades in all the rooms yesterday, letting in sunlight (what little there was), and it definitely helped.

That’s a really good idea, going for a walk every morning… I’ll have to try that out.

Hear, hear!
Petey is my best excuse to get some exercise. I might be lazy and tired, but that dog has more energy that either he or I know what to do with.
Maybe it’s the food… I should start eating dog food for breakfast…
A big bowl of dog food…
Yeah. In milk, like cereal…

You should leave your house more often.

My uncle had a really good idea. He puts tall jars, filled with water and food coloring, in the window sills around the house. The outside light (known to some as “sun”) shines through and provides super-pure color to saturate your hungry rods and cones.

wait.. “sun”?

ohh, “sun,” that thing that’ll crack your stand-up bass if you leave it lying in its mighty path!

I think I’ve heard of this “sun” you speak of…

steve and I had a scheme to create “bachelor chow,” a food good suitable for both breakfast and dinner. Dump it in a bowl of milk, and you’ve got a delicious cereal! Boil it in water, and it makes its own gravy!

Nice!
