I had a rediculously good time last night watching Kiki’s Delivery Service for Miyazaki night. We were all in a goofy mood, and spent the whole time making fun of the movie. It was great.
I seem to spend a great deal of time watching movies and, to a lesser extent, television. I don’t feel bad about this until I go to post here, and realize that nothing really worth talking about has happened except for some movies I saw. And I doubt people read this site for my movie reviews (though if you’re interested, I liked the new Harry Potter).
Oh well. I’m definitely a movie person, watching movies is something I love doing, so I’m not going to beat myself up about (that’s Annie’s job). I’ve also been working on web stuff lately, but in terms of fascinating reading, the minutia of upgrading the software that runs this site must rank up there with watching paint dry.
I did start a new forum on KMorg yesterday: [http://Soapy.KillingMachines.org/] …It’s a forum devoted to the (fictional) KillingMachines soap opera. I wrote up some basic characters and a first couple episodes. Hopefully other people will like the idea and keep the ball rolling. If this fails, I’ll just have to go back to pressuring Sean to write more Gary Dirin stories.
you know, I said in a recent journal entry that if I got five replies asking for it, I’d polish up and post straightaway the two gary dirin installments that have been sitting on my hard drive for six months.
I think I got one reply and it didn’t even mention gary dirin.
if there’s no audience besides, you, what’s the point?
Polish them up!! (1)
Polish them up! (2)
Polish them up! (3)
Polish them up! (4)
Polish them up! (5)
There . . . your reading public demands that you be a man of your word.*
* you never specified it had to be five replies from different people.
I read rusted for your movie reviews. Please talk about the new Harry Potter movie (your description of the last one being like a film of every other page of the book was perfect).
Incidentally, Steve, if you install ispell after the Fojar rebuild (or better yet the pspell library), I’d be willing to write a spell-checker for KMOrg.
Although it would mostly just piss people off.
“Byotch is too a word!!” Sigh.

‘* you never specified it had to be five replies from different people.’
that’s true, but I never said I was renewing the offer either.
While the second harry potter movie suffered from the same problem as the first movie (a *lot* of material was left out), I enjoyed it much more. I think this had to do with two things:
1) I went in expecting that. Since I knew the first one was like that, I assumed the second one would be, and therefore it didn’t disappoint me the same way as the first one.
2) The actors all really hit their marks. The kids, in particular, are much better, and Ron and Hermainie (sp?) are great. Snape, as usual, is amazing, and Lockhart was *perfect* …So much of the movie is improved by him, that a lot can be forgiven.
Yeah, all in all, I really really liked it. Annie hated it, on the other hand.
