Last night, we rented Lagaan,

Last night, we rented Lagaan, an Indian film about a village that gets involved in a challenge to beat the local British cricket team in exchange for not having to pay their taxes for three years, but if they lose, they pay triple taxes. It’s an underdog story, just like we’re used to seeing from sports films here in the states, but with one crucial difference.

This one’s a four-hour long musical, sung in Hindi.

It’s awesome. I highly recommend it. Watch the trailer, and then go rent it.

We rented it a few weeks ago. We didn’t get very far into it before our attention ran out. We did catch the song about the rain though, that was pretty crazy. We had just finished watching Kama Sutra so that’s probably why we weren’t in the mood for another Indian film. However, if you want to see the best movie in the world, go see Monsoon Wedding. See the trailer here: [http://www.apple.com/trailers/usa/monsoon_wedding/. Rose and I highly recommend it.

also, if you’re in the portland area, lagaan is coming to theatres soon. I think it’ll be at the cinema 21 first, then probably the fox tower.

Kama Sutra was really boring and disappointing. bleah.
